We
have all made the statement that "prayer changes things" or
"there is power in prayer". Perhaps we said this when we
were at a loss for words and were reaching out to give comfort to one who
is ailing or grieving. It is times like this when we pray for others
that our own lives are strengthened.
With
God working through you, perhaps being on the Prayer Chain is one way you
can reach out to others and also fill your own spiritual needs. You
may have considered volunteering on the Prayer Chain but you have
questions and you have been hesitant.
Here
are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the Prayer
Chain:
Q:
What is the Prayer Chain?
A:
The Prayer Chain consists of 50 volunteers called Prayer Partners who
bring before God those in illness and in distress of mind and all those
whom we know specially need God's blessing. These partners are
placed on one of the 10 lines or links that make up the chain.
Q:
What does the Prayer Partner do?
A:
The Prayer Partner must contact another partner on the line by telephone
or e-mail with the names of members, friends or relatives who need our
prayers. We as Prayer Partners ask God's blessing and God's keeping
of those whose names are brought before Him. This will bring you
comfort and peace of mind knowing that they are in the strong hands of
God.
Q:
Where will I obtain these names?
A:
Every Monday, a Prayer coordinator will copy the names from the
"Prayer Board" and start sending the names out to the Prayer
Partners. The Prayer Board is updated everyday as the need arises
and the Prayer Partners are contacted.
Q:
Is there a particular time to Pray?
A:
You can talk to God any time and He will listen.
Being
a Prayer Partner is a true commitment of your faith.
If
you would like to be a Prayer Partner, contact Prayer Coordinators Maxine
Kaen or Roxie Potts.
